Bill McClain

Bill McClain’s entrepreneurial journey is a testament to resilience, vision, and firm commitment to excellence. What began as a career setback became the catalyst for creating two successful companies that have transformed the technology services landscape.

After working for a Fortune 50 company and experiencing diverse business environments—from large corporate structures to technology support roles—McClain encountered a pivotal moment when promised business ownership was unexpectedly rescinded. Challenged with the provocative suggestion to “do it yourself,” he did exactly that, founding Networking Solutions, Inc. just four months later.

In 1999, McClain took a significant step by buying out his business partner, solidifying his singular vision for the company. By 2011, he expanded his entrepreneurial portfolio by establishing StratusDial, a complementary venture focusing on phone systems and cloud communications. Most recently in 2023, he added UponAi to his business family, strategically positioning the company in the emerging artificial intelligence landscape.

McClain’s leadership philosophy is deeply rooted in fundamental human values: treating people with respect, prioritizing family, and maintaining integrity. “Always take the high road,” he believes, even when it might not seem immediately advantageous. His approach emphasizes collaborative leadership, encouraging team input and creating a culture that values personal lives as much as professional achievements.

While acknowledging the importance of formal education, McClain is a strong proponent of experiential learning. His career trajectory demonstrates that true leadership is forged through lived experiences, challenges overcome, and a genuine commitment to continuous growth.

With over 20 years of experience in the small and medium-sized business (SMB) market, Eric Hunter, CTO of Networking Solutions, brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to our technology initiatives. He specializes in designing, configuring, and installing comprehensive solutions tailored to client needs, including VOIP phone systems, firewall, and network design. Recognizing that technology is constantly evolving, Eric believes in cutting through the noise of the latest trends to provide clients with efficient, cost-effective solutions. Senior IT Support Engineer

Ken

Ken Shaw, a Richmond, VA native, brings a robust background in network infrastructure and IT project management to our team. After a decade in industrial sales, Ken transitioned into Information Technology, where he developed expertise in data centers, wiring, server and PC management, as well as routers and switches. His technical skills extend to administrating Office 365, managing local and cloud-based backups, and supporting macOS and Apple hardware. Additionally, Ken oversees cloud-based VoIP systems and security applications, including multi-factor authentication, virus protection, and mail filtering. An avid music lover, sailor, windsurfer, and mountain biker, Ken combines his passion for precision with a strong track record in successful project execution.

Willie Earl, a Computer Science graduate with a concentration in Cybersecurity from ECPI, has been with Networking Solutions for over four years, bringing a unique blend of technical expertise and management skills to our team. With over eight years of IT experience, including five years with Carter Myers and three years with Networking Solutions, Matt Miller specializes in dealership tools, PCs, and telecommunication systems. Skilled in managing Active Directory, he handles user setup, server shares, and installs PCs, wireless bridges, access points, and cabling. His expertise extends to audio-video connections, onsite tech support, and integrating third-party software. Outside of work, Matt is passionate about solar setups, repurposing electric car batteries for home storage, and building electric transportation like e-bikes, scooters, and go-karts.

Christopher White holds a degree in Information Technology and brings valuable expertise in networking, technical support, and cloud system management. Known for his strong troubleshooting skills, Chris excels in resolving a wide array of IT issues and is dedicated to data protection, using his experience to safeguard personal data for users. After founding his own company focused on setting up networks for homes and small businesses, Wyatt joined Networking Solutions, where he identifies and mitigates network vulnerabilities, assists with helpdesk support, and ensures compliance with regulations across all locations.
